ParticipantHi folks,
First post!
Recently bought a Hotpoint EW86X Stainless steel cooker from Currys, first one damaged (despite being extremely well protected, replacement delivered (by currys) to the wrong person (who accepted it!) 3rd 4th and 5th attempts to redeliver a replacement failed, as cooker not loaded onto van at Currys hub in Newark. 6th replacement arrives, also damaged in same area as first (again, despite being extremely well packaged and no obvious damage to packing) now waiting on 7th (8th being supplied also incase 7th is also damaged)
My Question, is damage “normal” on Hotpoint appliances? The wrapping is extremely well constructed, yet the damage is still there to the appliance which makes me think its coming from the factory who are wrapping it not noticing the damage?
Im not to keen on Hotpoint now, this is my first Hotpoint purchase and may be my last judging by the quality of the product. And believe it or not, I cannot fault Currys at all, they have bent over backwards to get this sorted out
Another “issue” with the cooker which maybe someone can comment on is the flimsyness and construction of the electrical connection module on the rear of the cooker itself. Trying to manouvre the cable through 2 small holes (with void in between) was a nightmare and the connections wobbled about quite a bit even after cable was connected and tightened. The whole panel seems to be screwed to the cooker at the top, resulting in a fair bit of movement when attempting to connect the wires to the terminals….is that just bad design or a reflection of Hotpoint’s “cost cutting” ?
Thanks for any replies in advance…..Im also posting in the Washer.Dryer section if anyones interested in advice on a condenser dryer?
Cheers

UPDATE May 05th Curry’s arrived today with TWO replacement cookers, first one looked ok, but the electrical connection unit at the back fell off, seems its only held on by 3 flimsy plastic clips (Electrical safety Issue!!)
Refused that cooker and tried the second one which works fine, although I have to say that I am UNIMPRESSED with the overall quality of brand new factory sealed Hotpoint cookers….to have this many damaged, faulty items in a row is surely an indication of a major failure in quality control at Hotpoint’s factory?
I would also wonder how many of these power supply modules are hanging loose or broken in other Hotpojt cookers! ( I would advise getting your Hotpoint cooker checked !!) as they seem extremely flimsy even when properly attatched, and if it does fail the electrical contacts will come into contact with the main metal parts of the cooker….flash bang sizzle!
I rang Hotpoint to tell them what happened, and disinterested is an understatement to their attitude!
thats the first, and last Hotpoint product ever coming into this house!
