We have a Hotpoint WMXTF 842P UK.M that was flashing F06 so my girlfriend opened the filter and found some fluff and a crisp packet so when she turned the machine back on it showed a fill symbol (I think) then a red key came on and started flashing and the machine just beeps so does this mean the door lock is faulty

F06 is a door lock related error, sometimes burnt out wiring. Have you checked the latest safety recall to see if it includes your machine?

Thanks for you’re reply. A few months ago when I first heard about the recall my model was on the list but when I put the serial number in mine wasn’t effected.

i would double check as things change on that front. I know they have added new model

good news is if its covered they swop the machine as far as i know

its not uncommon for door lock wires to burn out on hotpoints even outside their recalled machines

Thanks for you’re reply. The child lock is off so I’ve checked the recall again and it’s affected by this product safety issue
