ParticipantStruggling with this machine, originally it gave error codes A8 and sometimes A5.
I checked the heater (A8) and it was open-circuit so replaced with unit from another machine of same model no. Heater showed good circuit. Note – replaced main circulation pump at same time because integral with the heater.
Now on all programs, it starts, does initial drain, does fill, then at end of fill it immediately starts emptying and code A5 displayed.
Initially looking up the code it appeared to indicate pressure switch problem, took this off and blew into pipe, could hear click from operation of switch. Trying hard to think of why a faulty switch would cause sudden drain.
However on another site it has A5 code relating to circulation pump fault, however again i can’t make sense of why it would want to drain just because the circulation pump was faulty. Therefore it could be pressure switch or circulation pump, but for me neither of these seem to tally with the machine wanting to drain all the time. Maybe my imagination is too limited.
Any thoughts?February 21, 2016 at 11:30 pm #435606iadom

On most faults when the machine goes into error mode it runs the drain pump.

Thanks, that’s interesting.
I have decided to focus on circulation pump since at the point it goes to drain and error is normally when I would expect the circulation pump to first start. The pump which I fitted with the replacement heater came from a machine which had a fault that was never solved. Will check continuity but a real pain to get dishwasher out and on its side, always water everywhere.February 22, 2016 at 10:47 am #435608admin

Hi
Look on it as a positive point..at least the water will put out the flames when it goes on fire. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Checked continuity of circulation pump and it was good. But replaced it anyway with the original pump which also had good continuity. Still drains immediately after filling.
Now purchasing a pressure sensor, but not very hopeful.February 22, 2016 at 6:15 pm #435610iadom

You do know that there are two different pressure switches which ate not interchangeable. 😉

Bought new pressure switch, exactly te same as old one. 3 terminals on switch but only outer two are used. Terminals normally connected but go open circuit when tube blown into.
Fitted and no change. On every cycle the machine fills then immediately empties ans shows A5 fault.
Bit at a loss, any ideas welcome.
I read something about circulation pump capacitor coud be faulty, not sure where it is or how to test, have replaced circulation pump, would the capacitor be part of this?February 25, 2016 at 11:41 pm #435612iadom

No capacitor used on these, bottom line is that it is a poor quality Indesit appliance.
I did ask in an earlier post if the wash pump actually runs at all?Error code 5
Pressure Switch problem. The machine has filled with 2.5 litres of water but the pressure switch is still in the
empty position.
• Check the filter or sump is not blocked.
• Check the pressure switch is not stuck in the empty position (contacts 11-12) or
the pressure chamber or air tube are either blocked, unattached or split.
• Check the wash pump is circulating the water.
• Check the wiring to the pressure switch.
• Check the edge connector blocks on the pressure switch and module card.
• Check the outlet hose is not too low causing the machine to siphon.March 6, 2016 at 1:27 am #435613pauljoanss

Sorry for delay in posting, got sorted last week.
It was a blockage in rubber pipe connected to the pressure switch. I blew down it, felt a blockage, blew harder and then heard bubble sounds as air blew thro.
Works fine, it may happen again as lot of lime scale around but at least I will know what to do.
Many thanks for your help. -
