As I’m on a dishwasher learning curve, can anyone advise me on the best fix for this ? The m/c is leaking from where the plastic sump moulding seals to the stainless steel base 😡 Would this require a new sump or can it be resealed?

Also is this a pig of a job, doesn’t look too easy ❓

    Thanks in advance Allan.

Done one new seal on one of these. a real pig of a job. There is a special tool and a small block of wood that is supposed to make the job easier. I didn’t have the special tool at the time but use it all the time now for getting the suspension pegs out.

Strangely enough the special tool also has a corkscrew end which is designed to take the pins out of WMA etc suspension dampers.

Thanks for the info Iadom, very helpful 😉

Do you know if the seal can be bought separately or will it require a new sump ❓

I could have sworn I fitted a new seal but may be mistaken. The parts diagram actually shows the seal but it is not listed as a spare part.

I assume it comes complete with sump but don’t quote me on that. There are different sumps fitted, serial number needed to ID. 😥

Only £11.06 ex vat list price though for sump assy.

Don’t know about this particular model but most of them can be re-sealed simply by tightening the screws that hold it on to the stainless steel base, or sometimes it’s the screws holding the bottom spray arm nozzle in place. I’ve done this with several dishwashers, never had any come-back. Can usually be done from inside the machine, very easy.

You don’t know about this model do you, 😉

Sump is held in place by a thin plastic locking ring, a very poor design and a real pain to try and remove and refit. 😥

There is nothing to ‘tighten up’ on this beast.

    😯

I was gifted mine by a very kind (forum member) who retired from Hotpoint a few years ago.

Trying to get the round retaining ring off and back onto the new sump without the tool and the special block of wood was a real mare. 😥

bit obvious but mind your fingers too! its thin sheet metal, sliced my thumb really deep tightening up the salt sump on a bosch in the summer. never even occurred to me until it happened that the metal was gonna be like a razor blade!
