Hi I have a Hotpoint FDW70. With the machine on the breaker on my consumer unit for the kitchen ring trips. This is accompanied by a burning smell coming from the dishwasher. I reset the breaker and the dishwasher carries on from where it left off, only now the burning smell is quite evident, and after a short while the breaker trips again.
Is it worth getting anyone to look at it, or is it dead? The water is heating up, as I checked this, after the 1st time it happened.
    Any ideas?

The only way forward is to remove the mains plug and do a visual and electrical test of all components.

    Thanks for the quick response.

When I say that the consumer unit is tripping, I mean the MCB for the kitchen circuit, not the RCD. The MCB would only trip if there was too much current running through it.

Stop using it, pull the plug, get the covers off and look; notably at the motor and it’s capacitor.
