ParticipantStrange one… but for a reason I suppose.
Anyhow, have replaced the heater element to solve the A10 error (old one had crap/scale aglore inside the heater part)
Anyhow, replaced this – fired it up works fine. Stopped program, changed said program, add dishes/stuff in. Turn on to make sure the LED lights up.. all good…
Close said door – RCD trips!!!!!
Tried many times.. machine will power on with the door open and all so can change programs… but as soon as its closed, it trips. Any idea what it could be please?

Tred with caution with this problem and to investigate you will need good basic electrical knowledge coupled with an Insulation Test Meter. What the problem could be, may be linked directly to the recent heater change you undertook perhaps?
Procede with caution and un-plug from the mains first. :zap:

Participantaye, thats what I am thinking… ain’t touching it now until I got the time to have another look at it again and until I have further advice for those who been in the field for years.
Did BTEC Electrical Engineering at College in the IT Industry a few years ago.. so do like to roll up sleeves and have a go as such.
Of course I don’t have a Insulation Test Meter or technical tools at the moment. But now another option would be to descale the old heater and refit that one and see it happens to this one too.

Hi: Have you gone back over what you have done to make sure you fitted the Element properly, have no wires trapped, have no leak of water onto the lement terminals? if all that checks out ok then as Martin said it’s time for the man with an Insulation tester.
Please remember: Power off & PLUG OUT first.
Electrocution can seriously spoil an otherwise perfect day 🙂February 11, 2011 at 6:52 pm #344372leosaphira
ParticipantWill pull it all out again tomorrow and have another check. The the brown wires to the heater (+ the earth) is not touching nowt, same goes for the pair of red wires going to the unit next to the heater.
Trouble is now.. the washer now contains a fair bit of water inside – so will have to take it outside and drain it out somehow?

Easier to use a bit of pipe & siphon out surely, or bail out with a glass & mop up the rest with cloths.
