    Hi,

    I’ve got a problem with my Hotpoint FDW80.

    When starting a program I can hear:
    * The drain pump run
    * The machine fill
    * When the main pump should fire up, all I can here is a buzz.

    This has happened in the past, and I got someone in who replaced the large white capacitor that’s next to the circulation pump. I’m happy replacing this again myself, but I can’t find the part. Any pointers?

    I’m also wondering why the same fault would be appearing a second time.

    Paul

    P.S. I should probably mention…. When I found the machine had failed it was displaying AL03, which I’ve found on this site means that draining failed. I also found directions to clear out the drain pump, which I’ve done but it was clean as a whistle. I’m pretty sure that’s not the problem and the alarm code is a red herring (as it was last time).[/list]

    We can supply most sizes of capacitor, it will have the rating on the side.

    I would suggest making sure the motor hasn’t siezed up first though.

    Unplug the machine, lie it on its left hand side ( from front ) and see if you can move the motor fan vanes by poking a small screwdriver through the motor casing and pushing the rotor vanes, it should move freely.

    with power off looking from back there is a hole about 8 inches along to the right from main terminal entry you can see a the end of motor, it has a flatblade screwdriver slot there you can turn or sometime free off the motor from there 😀
