Hi folks, new board member here.

I have looked at rule 8 wrt advice that will or will not be offered so I’m going to phrase my question carefully and not ask for wiring diagrams or solutions to wiring problems so here goes:

Very simply, how many connections should be attached to the PCB? I opened the fascia following what I deem a dubious repair and noticed that there was a disconnected plug with 2 wires hanging next to the PCB connections. It just so happens that the plug fits exactly on the PCB right next to where it was hanging and as far as I could tell (without testing all programmes) there wasn’t an adverse affect.

There are only 2 plugs going to the PCB with a total of 4 wires, 2 in each. Without access to a wiring diagram I’m inclined to think that both plugs should be connected; however, in the age of mass production and common part sourcing I am aware that there is every possibility that both this plug, its associated wires in the harness and the connection on the PCB could be surplus to requirement and hence redundant.

Could anyone confirm how many plugs should be attached to the Control Unit PCB? I’d like to confirm that I’m not asking for any advice on which wire goes where, etc etc, there is only one possible configuration and I’m happy with that; I just need to know how many plugs should be attached and whether the plug was left off inadvertently.

    Many thanks in advance.

Not being specific its impossible to answer.

    But

You can/should have 1 large plug with at least 6 wires in, then a very small plug with 2 thin white wires, on one side you will have a smaller plug that can have between 1 and 6 wires coming from it then finally there will be 2 spade connects that wires do to.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Sorry, perhaps my terminology was wrong. I thought this was the ‘control module’ as it has all the buttons attached; however, it also has the LCD attached and I’m guessing it may actually be a ‘display’ module. There are only 2 plastic plugs that could attach to the PCB and each has 2 wires. Only one was connected when I removed the fascia. (There are 2 small PCBs which are linked along one edge as I expect this saves space. The plugs attach to one of the boards through a cutout in the housing.

Any idea whether they should both be attached?
