ParticipantHoping for some help with my hotpoint.
The machine is not rinsing or spinning as part of the normal cycle, but seems happy to progress only if the cycle is stopped and the controller is set to “spin”. The machine cannot be pursuaded to rinse at any time.
Drain and filter are clear.
Many thanks

Does it actually fill with cold water during the rinse cycle?

No, it does not seem to get into the rinse cycle – it seems to wash then stop.

Participantwhat iadom is saying is that it sounds like a faulty cold inlet valve

the machine is only cold fill and so will fill for the intial wash, though. Another site suggests a heater fault?

There is a test sequence that you can perform.
With door closed. Press and hold the two option buttons. Select ‘D’ keep buttons held for approx 5 secs, all light flash. Push start, select prog ‘A’ without going through ‘Off’ position, push start.
Machine should now
Fill through wash valve
Rinse valve
Both valves
Drum rotation+heating
Drain

The fill valve is a double valve, the rinse valve can fail but the machine will still fill for the initial wash cycle.
Does it wash, drain out and then stop?
Which was the ‘other site’ giving you totally incorrect information? The heater has no effect on the rinse cycle. :rolls:

Forget which website suggested an earth fault on the heating element that would cause the machine to stop at the end of the was cycle – was either somewhere on fixya or howtomendit.
Yes, the machine is washing and then stopping.
I’ll try the test sequence when I get home. Thanks. 🙂
