Hi there, after using this site successfully to resolve a tumble dryer issue I now need your help again to fix my fridge (it hasn’t been a good 2 weeks for white goods in my house thats for sure!!)

I have a hotpoint future frost free FF175B fridge freezer which is about 5 years old. I am having to defrost the freezer every week or so to keep the fridge section from going warm. The freezer works fine by the looks of it but the ice builds up all around the evaporator at the back and blocks the vents leading up to the fridge. I defrost the freezer and the fridge gets really cold again and it works for another couple of weeks before i have to repeat the defrost process again. The fan runs fine and I have replaced the defrost element thinking this was the problem however the problem still occurs. I have just bought a basic multi meter to fault find but I don’t know what to check or what spec should be shown. I’m guessing the new defrost element could be faulty or the defrost cycle just isn’t being initiated in some way or it is but not for long enough.

I have just tested the resistance of the old defrost element and its reading 375 ohms and the one that i installed in the freezer now is reading 390 ohms.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob

I’m guessing the defrost element works perfectly fine as the resistance appears to be in spec. I’m thinking it’s the control module at fault which starts the defrost cycle. Could anyone tell me where to find this please? I don’t want to just start randomly stripping everything apart. Thanks.
