Hotpoint FF187W P Thermostat not working

The compressor start up, it runs for about 30seconds then there are 6 loud clicks and the compressor cuts out. This repeat approximately every 20mins. Both the fridge and freezer are not at the correct temperature both are running warm.

where do the clicks come from ?

and is it as long as 30 secs or shorter ?

The click sound appears to come from the top of the fridge, though not easy to tell. Some times it runs for 30seconds and sometimes for several minutes.

if its coming from the top it sounds like a control board issue

Thanks for the help. The control panel removed easily from the top of the fridge, as you said. It was easy to remove as was connected by plugs and not an edge connector. The fridge freezer is 9 years old. I have ordered a compatable replacement. Hope it works. Will update. Les
