Hotpoint FF200EG buzzes when door is opened

Hi all

We bought this fridge freezer about 6 weeks ago. We are really happy with it but I have noticed that when the door is opened it seems to buzz. The noise is like a vibrating kind of noise like when 2 metal objects vibrate together.

I have checked that the shelves are in okay but before I call someone out is there something really obvious I am missing?

Also is the door not meant to stay open – I assume this is an energy saving measure to prevent it being left open by mistake?

It’s probably a fan making the noise, you just can’t hear it with the door shut 🙂

I would call Hotpoint’s customer service dept as it’s under warranty and ask them to check it out if it’s a lot noisier than when new.

It’s not any noisier, it’s always done it.

It’s probably best to get them out.

Found the following on the Hotpoint website:

“It is not uncommon, especially on new appliances, to hear certain system noises as the gas within the fridge circulates around the internal pipe work. These noises will often soon diminish and are nothing to be alarmed about.”

“Your modern frost-free appliance utilises a series of internal and external fans during its normal operation so there will be a slight increase in the operating noises. This is quite normal so do not worry if you hear one or two different sounds than those you heard with your old appliance.”

So maybe there is nothing for me to worry about?
