ParticipantHello,
I’m a new user and have just found your excellent site….just ordered some spare parts from you too!The parts I have ordered are the two ‘troublesome’ thermistors for the Hotpoint Iced Diamond Fridge Freezers (part number 2600283 and 2601683) . My unit is the Hotpoint Iced Diamond FF78S.
On mine, both the freezer and the fridge have stopped working. No fan noise on switch on, and just the interior light coming on. No other sounds.I have some electrical training (audio and studio equipment) so I’m fine with electrical work, but obviously not alot of experience on fridges/whitegoods.
Is it a straightforward procedure to replace these parts?
Any chance anybody can give me a short summary before I start the job, with any pointers for things to watch out for….can the thermistors be easily seen/replaced?
Any special tools needed?Thanks!
Cheers,

Hi Penguin45,
Thanks for the reply.
I did have a look through the postings…having had a second look its a bit clearer. The deal is that I have to do this job next Sunday (assuming the parts arrive in time) and I havent got the fridge here (I’m staying away from home at the moment) so I wanted to try and visualise everything in my mind before I started!
This may be a daft question, but I assume you access the thermistors from the back of the fridge/freezer and not through some internal panel actually in the front freezer compartment itself?
I’m pretty sure replacing the thermistors will cure the problem having read the forum, I just want to make sure I know how to physically get at them. 🙂

….PS….
The pics that refer to the fitting of the evaporator thermistor just appear as ” squares with red crosses inside” on my computer, and I cant open/see them?…Anybody else getting this problem?
They are on page 6 of the “Mistral Temperature problems” thread

Just to close this thread down….I fitted both the thermistors supplied by ukwhitegoods over the weekend.
It was fiddly, but eventually got them in.
Put everything back together, switched on the power and all is working well!
Thanks again for the excellent forum.

Did you dry of the terminals and seal the plugs whith a sealant of some sort, i always do as most off the time its the terminals being damp that is causing the problems.

No, I didnt do this, but this makes sense as when I checked the ‘room temp.’ resistance values of both the thermistors, they were the same as the new parts….so dodgy connections could very well be the main cause pf the problem. Obviously I reseated the connection when I put the new parts in.
I’ll have to go in there again and do this, thanks for the tip!
Cheers,
