    Hi All

First the back story – complaint of the fridge not being cold, customer turned the unit off, defrosted it for 24 hours and hoovered all external vents etc, it has then worked fine for 2 to 3 weeks before failing again which is when I was called

When I tested the temperature the fridge was at about 12 to 14 degrees C and the freezer went from -12 at the top to -32 at the bottom, the fan runs OK and doesn’t look to be running slow, it will often kick in for 15 to 20 seconds after closing the fridge door and seems to kick in and out regularly at other times. I have tested all the sensors and defrost heater and I think that they are all OK and the compressor runs happily without overheating.

The only odd things that I noticed are:-
    1. The fridge door switch will always go open circuit when the door is closed but sometimes gives readings of nearly 1 Meg Ohm when open – would this cause the board to fail to cool the fridge correctly?
    2. When I exposed the evaporator it was clear of any major ice build up but it did have a 2mm thick layer of powdery ice sat along the very top edges (not even against the pipework) – would that be a case of the defrost not working fully?

Does this sound like a board, gas or other fault?

Does anyone have a service manual for this please?

    Thank you

    Jem

More than likely the thermistors, sometimes the evaporator fan motor works on test but cuts out on normal operation could be the door switch i suppose as the fan is operated by it , i wouldnt think it is a system fault as the refigeration side of these was the one thing Hopoint got right with these.
