    Hi There
My first post on here. I`ve been called out to a Hotpoint Frost Free FF91. Everything appears to work OK apart from the fact that the fridge thermistor doesn`t appear to sense the fridge temperature, hence the compressor keeps running and eventually the evaporator ices up resulting in the temperature in the fridge rising. I`ve changed the thermistor but it didn`t cure the problem. Any ideas?

Is the fan running in the freezer? Also does the light go out when fridge door is closed?

Yep, the fan is running, the light goes out when the door is shut, it`s just that whatever the temperature in the fridge the display reads 19oC, and eventually the temp does rise to 19

I’ve found that replacing both the thermistors in the freezer cures a multitude of sins 😉

Have you checked continuity across the fridge thermistor from the pcb itself to ensure there’s good contact at the edge connector? Geoff

The evaporator thermisor is most likely at fault part no 2601683. It doesn’t like moisture can provide dodgy readings!

if you do a resistance check of the thermistor the approx readings should be

    +20’C 3K ohms
    0’C 9K ohms
    -5’C 11K ohms
    -20’C 26 K ohms

    Hope this helps

Thanks for your help everyone. I going to also replace the thermistors in the freezer. I`ll let you know the result next week
