ParticipantHi all,
Please can someone help.
The PCB on my fridge blew when my dad opened it, assume it was a spike when the bulb was activated.
A new PCB board part no 2603400 is out of stock here? Was advised to post here for help.
Another place through my work has it but it says “NEEDS CONFIGURATION” What does that mean? What would I need to configure it?
I am quite ok with electronics, desperately need to order it quickly as have no fridge currently.
Much appreciated
Scooby

Thanks for the Reply.
Thats the part no the lady gave me over the phone from here, I have checked c00218671 and it is exactly the one, thats very helpful thanks.
Its a 2000 model I think, when I checked the website affiliated with my company for parts it said “needs configuration” (3rd pic down) £85 delivered.
Both parts from website look exactly the same, I didnt want to buy and then find out it needs attaching to a machine or eeprom dump, the dosy sales people didnt know what it meant either.
Heres 2 pics of mine and 3rd pic is the one I will be buying (in fairness to this website I have masked details)
Thanks in advance, any tips most appreciated..Whitegoods dont stock it anymore, anywhere else thats cheap?

ParticipantThanks for trying to help chaps…
Still need confirmation of how to program this, I dont mind buying the bits if they are cheap enough or if something can be emulated by my laptop.
10 yr old fridge freezer (granted its old) needs special equipment to program sounds like a monopoly to me, Hotpoint are as bad as Apple. If thats the case I wont ever buy Hotpoint again. We got a cheapy freezer and thats been running strong for 13 years without a single hitch and this Hotpoint – I have since replaced, fan, thermister, bulb and a motor.
I dont have a problem paying for someone to come and do the job but I should be able to do it myself without the need for specialist equipment which is really non essential unless your trying to ringfence your products and squeeze money out of people.
Makes me mad lol Sorry for the rant 😀

Might be better if you directed your ire at the Indesit Company 😉
PS. As a private individual how would you fair trying to repair/replace the electronics on your car, you won’t get much joy out of any motor manufacturer. 😉

Funny you say that, I do a lot of stuff on my cars via the OBD2 ports from diagnostics and programming the onboard units using VAGCOM to using a bog standard OBD2 device via it’s OBD2 port, for more complicated things I can plug it into my laptop via ELM or the relevant interface and use the plethora of software out there, I have even flashed modules on cars and all this as a private individual 😉 but we have have a good online community that helps each other out in these topics… Off course my rant was directed at the manufacturer.
And this is just a simple PCB (not so simple lol) Cant be that hard…
Got to try it, I know some people are a bit hessitant to give out trade secrets unlike motors or reverse engineering your Xbox for eg…BIG THANKS TO ALL THAT HELPED OUT !! ESPECIALLY THE NICE NORTHERNER WHO SENT ME A MANUAL, I AM GRATEFUL..

Normally the new Hotpoint PCB’s that require ‘configuration’ as opposed to programming usually have an instruction sheet in the box.
I do say ‘usually’ with a caution though.
You could always ask them to have a peep in the box before they send it out to you. 🙂

Thank you for that, thats helpful.
I actually re-soldered all the burn out contacts and bridged anything burnt on the board, was a longshot but Voila it actually worked even with my rubbish soldering skills, ok I was actually shocked.
Cheers for all the advice..
UPDATE: FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHERS DOING A SEARCH FOR THIS IN THE FUTURE – I HAVE IT CONFIRMED THAT THIS PCB DOES NOT NEED ANY CONFIGURATION, IT IS PLUG AND PLAY OUT OF THE BOX….
