    Hi,

Have been reading on your forums re: the frequent problems that other poor souls seem to be having with Mistrals whereby the fridge temp goes up to room temp but freezer stays at -22C. I have the same issue. 🙁

From reading posts on this site, I think, I’m going to have a go at the thermistors first – seems like the best starting point from the other posts. Sound reasonable?

I think I need to go for the following part numbers:
    2601683 – evap thermistor
    2600283 – freezer thermistor

However, I can’t ascertain whether I need 2600284 or 2601739 for the fridge thermistor. Can you help? If it’s any use my serial number is 68126182.

Also – can you confirm where these little fellahs are located in the unit? I believe that the first two are located through the back of the freezer compartment (from the inside?).

Is the fridge thermistor located in the housing that contains baffle and internal light in the fridge part of the unit?

Thanks for an excellent forum – hope this helps others too. 😉

very unusual for fridge thermistor to go, check that cooling fan in bottom of appliance is working ,take off bottom grill and make sure it is not blocked.if this is ok probably build up of ice in freezer at air ducts

The main problem aint the thermistors but moisture gathering at the plugs as can be seen when you remove said thermistors the yellow plug has a green stain from the green one, when replacing dry out the terminals with a hair dryer, when fitting new thermistors smear some silicon sealant around the plugs normaly cures the problem.

Evap thermistor is the most common fault. Unplug before looking inside :zap:

    Re: Hotpoint FF92BL – Thermistors

Cooling fan at the bottom is working fine – have already checked (should’ve said that in my original post – apologies) 😳

Hair dryer and silicone tip sounds like a good one – thanks.

All I have to do is locate the thermistors in the unit. Am I right in thinking that in the FF92 you take out all the drawers in the freezer compartment, remove the panel and they’re behind there?

I also read some posts here about a potential problem with the baffle in the fridge that allows/prevents the air from circulating in the fridge part. Can anyone comment on these tests I tried yesterday morning/last night?

With the fridge at ambient, I detached the housing that holds the baffle & light from the inside of the unit but propped it up and left it attached electrically. This leaves the air input to the fridge coming staright in – not going through the baffle. Then I turned the unit back on and left it while I went to work. The baffle appeared to be open at this point. I don’t know how much it is meant to open but I would say it was open about half an inch. When I returned from work the fridge was at a normal 4C and the baffle was closed. I re-attached the housing last night and again, closed the door and left it overnight. This morning I had a temperature of 14C. To me this would suggest a bafffle problem but it did appear to be open and closed at the right times. 😕

    The plot thickens…
