ParticipantHi,
We are having a problem wtih this fridge freezer – earlier in the week, the fridge temperature had risen to +18, although the freezer remained at its normal temp of -22, so called engineer.
This morning the fridge temp had gone back to normal, Engineer came out today (by which time, the fridge was now back down to its normal temp 🙄 ) and took the freezer back panel off and there was a sheet of ice behind it, he ‘defrosted it’ and checked the fan? which he said was working. he said it might work again properly now, see how it went, and he would look into prices of a ‘control board’ as he thought it could be that. The appliance got back to normal temp within 3 hours of him leaving but now the fridge temp is slowing climbing, currently +14, freezer still fine.
Sorry. i’m rambling now, basically what i wondered was after reading some previous posts on here, could it be the freezer thermistor?
Look forward to hearing a reply,
Cheers

It’s very unlikely enough ice would build up in that short time to cause the fault to reccur so quickly.
Ask the engineer to come back and check, it sounds like the fan isn’t running intermittently, the fridge doors drop on these so it misses the switch.
Dave.

ParticipantThanks Dave for your prompt reply, I’ve just checked inside the freezer part and there is a thin build up of ice already, what do you think is causing this?
Thanks

Best wait for your guy to return then I think.
There’s obviously something not quite right there, although I’m amazed the ice could form so quickly with no means of warm/moist air entering, unless the door has been continually opened to “check” 😀

ParticipantOkey Doke, Thanks Again, just to shut me up though 🙂 can I stop thinking I need a thermistor then? I will sleep tonight……..

Put it this way, if it does need one or both of the freezer one’s (the usual culprits), they are inexpensive and easy to replace, the fact that it’s freezing is the good news as it (hopefully) rules out a system fault which could prove costly or render the unit beyond repair.
Now go to bed, shut up and stop worrying or the bogey man will get you :lesson:
😆 :rotl: :lol2:
Sorry, I couldn’t resist that 😀

We’re all a bit twitchy about “extended” posts – it’s becoming known as “Doing a Yurtesen”. He’s done it twice. Site Admin and Moderators are likely to go to the pub and not come back for several days…. Bad on a Tuesday……..got the rest of the week to get through. 😀
Still, we’ll get you sorted pretty sharpish 😆

Get the engineer to check the Freezer thermistor, the older types absorbed moisture in the tip and misread, this could lead to a mis read in the freezer resulting in the freezer taking over and the fan not running.
The other problem could also be a blockage in the air vent (return) due to ice build up.May 17, 2005 at 9:44 am #134000admin

Hello there,
Just came across your site while browsing as I have the exact same problem with the FF72P model. An engineer checked it out and found no problems. I had turned the fridge off though but there was no visible trace of defrosted water. the fridge did eventually return to +2 but now it is back up at +17! mmm warm milk in my cornflakes!
Is there a diy resolution to the problem as Hotpint have a nice £89 call out charge.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
JG
