The above fridge freezer has seriously started to mis-behave. The fridge stopped cooling first, this was down to a build up of hair and dust around the fan inlet. The problem now is the fridge and freezer compartments! The fridge now reads -1 and freezes anything in it, the freezer is still freezing but EA flashes on the display… Its as if the motor is running all the time. Any ideas please would be greatly appreciated… Going to try and fix the blasted thing myself…. Just need the hot gen on parts and stuff.. 😯

EA means “no feedback from the baffle”.

Which means in your case engineer time to be honest as the component that has failed may well need specific test equipment.

Have a look at repairs@ and the directories for an enginner near you 😀

Going to try and fix it myself. I have fixed quite a few fridges before but not of this type. Any chance of giving me a bit more gen as calling out an engineer isn’t going to happen. Fridge Freezer will get binned as did not pay anything for it… 😛

    Blade,

It’s one of those “could be” problems and we’d just be guessing at it without specific testing etc. and, due to our nice friends in Brussels we’re not allowed to give you specifics in case you fry yourself.

If it’s any consolation, many refrigeration system fauts and electronic faults these days are engineer only stuff. 😕

Thanks for the advice. I know you are restricted as to what you can tell me. I am an electrician but on aircraft. The chances of me frying myself are pretty slim. I would be really upset if i killed myself by electrocution…Would changing the thermistors not prove anything in this instance? 😛

Legally, our problem that we get around up to a point, is that “competent” is deemed by a judge, not by peers. Define competent?

Problem is the rule of thumb is that “competent” requires that someone is trained in some manner or has experience in the field. An unrelated field, albeit with similarities, doesn’t cut it in a court of law. Now, the chances of anyone actually trying to sue any of us may well be remote but I’m sure you get the drift.

Point is, we can only go so far with the advice we give.

When it comes down to swapping out spares to find out if something is goosed then give up. Whilst we can and do in some cases have to do this ourselves, in such cases we accept the costs of doing it, if you buy the spares and fit them then there’s no way to return them as no supplier will accept them back if used.

    K.
