I was called out to look at one of these F/F’s at the weekend, it’s apparently 18 months to 2 years old. The freezer is icing up and the fridge is warm.
The display says that it is at -18 +4, but the fridge was at room temperature. I could hear the fan running and stopping as I opened the door. The compressor sounded like it was running fine. There is a chemical smell in the fridge, but I can’t see how it could be coolant as the freezer is working.
It was apparently defrosted before they called me, so I didn’t suggest they tried it again. The freezer drawers weren’t overly full either.
The biggest problem here is that it has been built into a cupboard, so I don’t have much room to maneuver it about. I suppose that’s the owners problem if they want it fixed, as I’m not removing the door frame to haul it out…
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
