I have a frost-free Hotpoint FFA52 which I inherited with my previous house, and it worked fine for 10 years. Since I moved however, for some reason the freezer compartment has started icing up. I noticed the removal guys didn’t leave it quite level, so I’ve corrected that, and defrosted it, but I can see the problem hasn’t gone away. There is a sort of covered shaft at the back of the compartment, and you can see solid ice forming at the bottom where water has entered through it, which then starts backing up and getting into the drawers. Wondering if anyone might know what the problem is? I’m mystified as to where the water is coming from or how it’s getting in.
    Thanks

the water is always conensation and normally it goes down the tube onto a tray on top of the compressor and eveporates

when you defrost make sure that tube is clear

the drain hole will be at the bottom not the top

also check the door is closing properly as a dud deal introduces moisture

The door looks fine to me.
There’s no drain hole that I can see in the bottom. The only opening into the compartment, apart from the gubbins above it, is the one I’ve indicated, and it looks to be where the tube is connected, after peering behind what I believe is the condenser (the black vertical metal thing on the back). So presumably that opening icing up might be the problem, and maybe I didn’t wait long enough for it to defrost. But then why would it ice up in the first place?
