Hotpoint FFA70P – Fridge Freezer – compressor on/off

*This machine has a cooling plate in the fridge and does not blow any air from the freezer.

Two LED’s are lit on the control panel (above fridge door)indicating error… HIGH TEMPERATURE LED LIT + FOOD DEFROST LED LIT

The freezer air circulation fan is running almost constantly, it does briefly switch off for a second or two, but will be switched straight back on again.

The compressor will turn on for about 10 seconds, it does this periodically every 5-10 minutes, but mostly the compressor is off.

Any help would be greatly appriciated here, i suspect the PCB, but i am also aware the comp. might be the problem, it just keeps cutting out.

my first thought are look a pcb for power supply

if its a capacitor normally either 1uf or 1.5 uf change that

look in section simple pcb repair tips for more info

If you listen near the compressor if the compressor makes a clicking noise when it cuts out then it will be the compressor.

If the compressor cuts out without making a clicking noise the check the power from the PCB.
