    Hi guys

I would appreciate some advice please over a Hotpoint F/F which is less than 2 years old. Red warning light came on 13 Dec and F/F very warm in both fridge and freezer – its still under extended warranty from John Lewis. Hotpoint engineer came 22 Dec and said it needed to be re-gassed. They couldn’t arrange this until 4 Jan. Re-gassing carried out. Red warning light on again on 14 Jan – lost entire contents of F/F for 2nd time in 5 weeks. I’ve requested a replacement under the warranty, but Hotpoint are insisting on sending engineer, who cannot come until 24 Jan. Had use of F/F for 10 days in last 5 weeks.

Question is – obviously this appliance has a problem. Hotpoint/John Lewis think it is acceptable to keep sending engineers. I don’t… Professional advice very much appreciated as I’m at my wit’s end with this.

    Regards.

They are well within their rights to request an engineer visits first, if only to prove its not missuse but, once there you can refuse the repair. If the system wanted re gassing then there may be an internal leak or a leak from the work of the engineer. Just a shame their lead times are so long. Think again before buying Hotpoint/Indesit in the future.
