Hotpoint FFA90 – loud rattles and gurgles

I bought an FFA90 back in Dec 2003 sales. Until recently, it has been pretty much ok, but in the past month, whenever the fan kicks in (whenever the door is closed), it makes a load rattling noise.

The noise appears to be coming from somewhere behind the top freezer drawer…

I’ve noticed other posts about a design problem which was changed in later models. Could this be reponsible? I’ve never ‘defrosted’ the freezer, as I was under the impression that this wasn’t needed on a frost free model.

Take the frozen stuff round to Mums and defrost the whole thing for 24 hours. The ice rattling the fan will disappear and silence should return.

If it returns within a couple of weeks, you do have a problem and will need help. That said, there are unlimited “Mistral” posts to be found using the search function.
