You can be as stuffy as you like martin, I replace 10 GDA motors per week with FHP motors across the whole (digital) WM and WD range. Never had a recall on one yet, so prat about with plug kits if you like, I’ll carry on doing it the easy way.

Well! – I did’nt expect my query to evoke such a response, but thanks gentlemen for all the advice and tips. 🙂
The plug kit is about £3 from CDSL but to be honest me being an idle sod I would probably opt for Jimbo’s solution sounds OK to me. But it might be worth marking the plug for future refence with a felt tip if it will fit both ways.
Incidently, who do you think is the best / cheapest supplier for Qualtex parts?
Thanks
Andy

Just got six new ARM 20’s Qualtex price has gone up around £4.00 costing me £19.99 + vat ATM.
Looks like Qualtex is cashing in on the demise of the Gen part. To be honest I don’t blame them, they must have been pretty cheesed of when Hotpoint dropped the price of their armatures and we all dumped the pattern parts. I used to use the ARMQG1 off Connect, until the GEN parts dropped to silly prices, at one point I was paying about £12.50 + VAT each for five off!
A nice lady told me that Qualtex had discontinued the ARM20 but had since re-tooled to resume production (obviously because of the GEN situation).
I suspect that Merloni / Ind Co would like to jettison any commitment to Hotpoint / Creda spares for pre-Merloni machines, and that the dis-continuance of the armatures may just be the prelude to other lines suffering the same fate.

Having been today to a WM machine that had a motor fitted last year by Hotpoint, I can confirm that some of their engineers do indeed use the original plug. In this instance he had cut away the socket on the motor to allow it to fit.
Can’t say I was impressed with his method of fixing the earth wire, he used the original ‘O’ tag and secured it to the motor front bracket with a plastic cable tie. 😥June 13, 2005 at 7:10 pm #137700Martin
