ParticipantHi
I have a hotpoint first addition WMA20 bought it 13 months ago and as expected just after the warrenty ran out it started going wrong, the main problem is when running through a program it will go almost all the way through until it gets to the drain , rinse and spin,
it just goes onto end program, leaving the clothing soaking wet, if i try to re set it onto “rinse and fast spin” it begins to refil with water for a second or 2 then clicks back onto end program and the drain motor kicks in,but only for a short period leaving the clothing still soaking ,so i have to keep setting it onto rinse and spin so the drain motor will empty the drum? . then i leave the machine for an hour or so until i can again set it to “rinse fast spin” sometimes then it works , sometimes it just goes straight onto program end and again the drain pump comes on..for a very short time??? 😕 etc etc etcanother problem is sometimes when i set it to wash 60 or 40 i feel the door glass half way through and its hot..next time i do a wash the door is stone cold ? 😕
i probably haven’t explained the problem well enough for anybody to help so im at the stage where it either engineer or skip?
thanks MrmisterMay 14, 2006 at 10:43 pm #176481iadom

It does sound as though you may have a partial pump blockage or sump obstruction, If you do not feel capable of checking this yourself then click on the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help. It should not be over expensive if this is the cause of your problem.
Please remove the mains plug if you intend to open the patient up yourself.
As regards your reference to the ‘skip’ please bear in mind that you do have a five year parts gaurantee on this machine, even if the machine suffered a major expensive failure you would only have to pay the Indesit Co’s £90.00 labour charge, you will not be able to go out and purchase a new machine for that price.
Fortunately this machine has the earlier Hotpoint electronics, before Indesit decided to put their own woeful PCB’s into most of the Hotpoint range, also if it is under 2 years old it will have the later bearing seals which have virtually eliminated the large number of bearing failures on these.
In short, get it seen to. 🙂May 14, 2006 at 10:43 pm #176482Penguin45

Not the worlds finest washer I’m afraid. Right, when it faults to “end”, do you get any of the progress or option lights flashing at the same time? If yes, they may identify a fault code which would help us enormously. As to the heat issue, can’t offer anything at this stage.

Pump – at lowest point of machine.
Sump hose – connects drum to pump and contains filter.
Remove plug and rear access panel to reveal all.Evening Iadom…….

Tsk, tsk. If it does turn out to be a pump obstruction or similar it is worth noting that in 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of cases this is due to user misuse, not due to the quality of the machine.
The pump is behind the lower back panel, arm yourself with a couple of towels and a washing up bowl or large roasting tray. Power off at all times.

Evening P45, looks like the weather may save Sri Lanka 😉
mrmister, please take note of my earlier post, if the worst comes to the worst, you have a full five year parts warranty.

goodnightDon’t be silly, even allowing for the Italian and Chinese degradation of the domestic appliance market BISE, you will not be able to buy another machine for £90.00.
The machine you have, although basic is not one of the worst machines on the market, it does not have the dodgy Indesit controls and it has the later drum bearings. It should last you for a few years yet.
NB. BISE= Before ISE 😉May 15, 2006 at 12:15 pm #176492mrmister

Best regards MrmisterYou see, its not such a heap of junk after all, you just need to educate the operator now, 😉
Coins can do very serious damage to modern machines with nylon outer drums, you have escaped this time.
Thanks for letting us know the outcome.
Jim.
