ParticipantI have got 2 problems with the washing machine. The first problem is when you shut the door the machine does not start until you give the door a tap. And second sometimes while spinning out the clothes the washing machine jumps across the floor. I have been told it’s the door switch at fault and the shocks that holds the drum are at fault but they have not looked at the machine. As i don’t no if to buy a new machine or buy the parts if they are still available i thought i would ask on here first for advice.

Door lock is here:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ucts_id=86As far as the moving about is concerned, I would check the filter in the tub to pump hose first. If it can’t drain easily, the machine can shake very violently. If clear, pop the lid off and ensure that the drum is sitting squarely in the casing and not twisted. Try twisting the drum – you should feel some resistance. Push the drum down and check that it bounces back up. If it fails on any of these points, the suspension is shot and you will need to consider replacement.
Suspension kit is here:

Or if it bounces up and down several times the suspension is shot.

definately the door lock is faulty, but it would be a good idea to take the lid off and see if the 2 top springs are still attached. to check the suspension the concrete weight on the top of the drum should be concentric with the cabinet, also if you push down on the concrete weight it should come back up when released.
plug out of course.

The suspension kit doesn’t state that it will fit a WM51 so is there a different one i need.

Will fit your machine perfectly. All WM machines have the same drum/chassis assembly.
