My Hotpoint First Edition DF52 (1999) has started blowing the circuit breaker after being on for about 10 minutes – but only if plugged directly into a socket. When I use a 15m extention lead to the same socket (don’t ask how I found out) it works fine, if a bit slow. Why and what do I do about it?

Don’t know why, but I would check the mains suppressor and heating element.

    Power off, please.

Thanks, helo_75, the earth connection on the extension lead was loose. So I guess it will be the mains suppressor or heating element, as suggested by Penquin45 – thanks to him. The timer plays up as well, so perhaps it’s time for a replacement. What an excellent site!!
