Participanthad enough of the deafening noise when the washers on spin :eeek: just been reading up on the nightmare job in prospect, now the page on replacing bearings is rather vague in regards to some been relatively easy and some been a pain, anyone help on this model please, is this one of the easier ones 😀
Oh, and is there any other parts I should replace while im busy carving chunks out of my hand on the various sharp edges :rolls:November 10, 2013 at 1:56 pm #404234Martin

The outlook is challenging for you to put it mildly. The bearing kit is cheap to buy though if the bearings have collapsed then you will need a new drum support shaft as well. Add to the list the two halves drum gasket, a box of Band Aids and have the phone handy in case you have to dial a 3 digit number. 😉

TBH if it has been noisy for some time you will almost certainly need a new drum rear and drum support.
It could have the proper Hotpoint bearings or the cheaper 30mm ones fitted by Indesit.

I would hardly ever fit bearings without fitting a new spider as well, pig of a job if you haven’t done one before

Don’t bother ordering any parts until you have attempted to strip it down first.

Thanks for the quick replies, I’d looked at the new drum rear, didn’t realise there’s a drum support to price up also,i take it there’s a seal between both sections of the drum ? and the door seal at the same time ? new suspension and it’ll be good as new,if it doesn’t end up in the garden in 2 million bits 🙂

Remember that this machine could have either 30mm or 35mm bearings and shaft. 😉
