    Element Replaced

When fitting, I noticed there was no internal stabilising bracket for the element to slide into. Day after repair, customer complained of knocking noise on spin – The element had angled upwards and was knocking against the bottom of the metal drum during the spin distribution phase.

I re fitted the element making sure to angle it slightly downwards. However, now the customer has had a flood. I’m presuming the element has popped out (am about to arrange another visit) . This (element popping out) is something I have heard of, but never had happen to myself.

What is the advice here? How tightly do I screw the 8mm nut? Is the element popping out a consequence of tightening too much? Why is there no stabilising bracket!?

Original part element fitted, the short 1700W version.

    Many thanks.

A lot of the short ones don’t have a bracket to slot into, but yes over tightening it can cause it to pop out.

    Thanks for the reply.

The element which I tightened too much was damaged. The bracket which the bolt squeezes the rubber with had gone ‘v’ shaped and some of the rubber had cut/split.

Fitted a new one, being mindful not to tighten too much, but enough that the element couldn’t wobble vertically.
