ParticipantHi
I have a Hotpoint Aquarius (HBNF 5517 S UK) Fridge/Freezer, most times when I open the door (when the compressor is running) the internal light flashes multiple times and it makes a noise – I have attached a video to illustrate what I mean.
Other than this it all appears to be working okay, temperature in both fridge and freezer from what I can see is okay, just concerned this is indicating some sort of fault and it is going to suddenly stop working completely.
Any ideas please?
Thanks

Moderatorby the looks of it the power supply on the main control board cant cope with too much load.and having the light and the compressor on at the same time overloads it
you can either replace the board or if your good at solding replace the faulty component

ParticipantWhich board would it be that needs replacing, where is it and is it easy to do? It does only seem to happen when I open the door when the compressor is running and not every time (but most times). The fridge / freezer is about 6 years old so is it worth replacing parts or would it be better to think about buying a new one?

Moderatorif you can solder components on a pcb it will cost less than £5 approx
the board is at the top behind the panel
new board is around £60 but if you change the component pictured then it will cure it
can help sourcing when we know a value which is on it

ParticipantOut of interest tried taking the bulb out to see if it does same thing with it removed and it does, obviously light now doesn’t flash, but still get the noises most times I open the door.
My soldering skills are not good enough for me to replace component myself so would have to be replacing the board. Can you give me idea of where I could source the part from please?

Moderatorno taking the bulb out wont make a difference as the relay on the board is still energising sucking the power
ok to check there is only one board i will need all the rest of the numbers off the label

ParticipantI actually got the model completely wrong! – it is HBNF 5517 S UK
Information from label:-
Mod: HBNF 5517 S UK
869991555810
671832022315
I.C. W61555810100Type CM02PF
Let me know if you need anything else.
On separate note my house lights keep flickering for no obvious reason – some days regular, then other days not at all, could the fault with the fridge / freezer potentially be causing that do you think?
Thanks again for your help

Moderatorboard part no

As far as i know this board should be pre programmed but can never promise. A lot of later hotpoint board need to be programmed after fitting but I think this one does not need it, hopefully

Moderatorthe problem with your lights will have nothing to do with the fridge fault
