    Hi all,
The freezer is approx 13-15 yrs old.
A couple of days ago, the door was left slightly ajar overnight, ruining the contents.
After replacing with some new frozen food & making sure door was shut properly, we assumed all would be well again, however yesterday the food in freezer was a bit soft, so after some research, I removed the back panel inside to reveal a block of solid ice from under the evaporator down to & into the drain hole at bottom.
spent most of yesterday afternoon defrosting gently with a hairdryer until all ice gone, replaced panel, closed the door, switched back on with temp dial at 3 (normal), then left it to do its thing. After 6 hours though high temp light still lit, fan running & compressor running. opened the door, fan stops & high temp light gone out. Put two cups of water in, one top , one bottom & left overnight.
This morning, water in both cups is frozen, food is not frozen solid though, compressor & fan still running constantly. Put temp dial down to 1, after a minute or so the compressor stopped but fan still running. left door open for a couple of minutes & compressor kicked back in again. Fan runs constantly unless door is opened. The Freezer is in a ground floor indoor utility room & this is the first fault we have had with it. Very grateful for any help
    Thanks
    Rob

I have this freezer and I noticed the exact same thing with the fan.

If it’s running like that and not cooling down correctly then it’s really a two horse race between a sensor or stat and the compressor.

At the age and what’s happened I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the compressor was pumping weak now.

    K.
