Hi. We have a Hotpoint EW84X – grill doesn’t come on at all. It’s not the element – that’s also used by the top oven which is fine. I’m not frightened of testing electrical stuff, but I am nervous about getting at the switch/regulator in case I break a fragile bit of metal or something. The ceramic top is held by two screws at the back and you can lift it up a bit, but it looks as though it’s held by two bits of metal at the front. Should it just pull off? (It’s not obvious either how the control housing at the front is held apart from two screws under it.)
Also, there are 4 screws at the back that hold the bases of the elements. Should they be left on or taken off?
Thanks, grandpa
