Hotpoint HFC 2B19 UK Fault

I have a Hotpoint HFC 2B19 UK that decided to flash lights and beep at me. Hoping someone on here can help as the Hotpoint website was of no use and Hotpoint told me they can’t help unless they send an engineer out! Maybe someone here knows what the error code is and a possible remedy.

The Power On/Off button and the Wash Start button LEDs flash and the 65 degree Intensive wash and 50 degree quick wash LEDs are lit up. The beeping is two short chirps repeated 10 times then it’s a long pause before starting again. Not sure if the beeps a relevant.

The washer starts it’s program, fills with water, you hear sloshing of water and then after a while it goes into error and drains the water away. You can clear the fault using the power On/Off button or turn off the mains power and it’ll start any program as if nothing is wrong, but go back to an error after it’s been working for a while.

Today I opened up the washer and checked a few things like kinked pipework, the flood detection switch and the heating element for continuity. Can’t see anything obvious. It’s been working fine up until yesterday.

Any ideas?

to enable me to get the fault i need to see the light postions but it looks like fault 10

which is a heater or heater relay fault

also check heater for earth faults

I felt the water by opening the door when the error flagged up, just before it had a chance to drain it and it was cold. So a heating element / relay could be the cause.

I’ll need to take it apart even further to check the circuit board.

Usually the heater goes duff rather than the pcboard BUT have had it where the heater duffed up the pcb – blown tracks = 2 parts failure. Trouble is the pcboards, least historically-this one might be different- are onsite programmable by Hotpoint / Indesit but machine should be under a 10 year parts warranty. If you have to buy a new pcb do not do that as it might end up being useless to you and you cannot send it back / or without a load of hassle you do not want.Pcb is listed at a depressing 202 quid on Hotpoint`s parts website!

You should know that there are several versions based on the commercial code as well as the model number. Since you did not state that, `cause you did not know, I picked one example out at random so with electrical and mechanical parts things might be different between versions rather than just the usual cosmetic differences.

Hi guys

Bit of a delay in getting around to looking at the dishwasher again.

Found out that the heater connection was faulty on the neutral side. From the point where the electrical connector plugs onto the heater module and the heater conductor itself was open circuit. I couldn’t see where or why as the break in the connection is inside one of the plastic supports. No signs of melting or burning.
Dishwasher is working again, so thanks for your advice with the error code.
