ParticipantHi,
Hotpoint Integrated Fridge Freezer – HM315NI – 5 years old.
Like my subject says… my Fridge is not cooling well, there is ice forming at the back of the fridge when turned to 5 but the front seems to be warm.
My freezer is working fine. I did notice a small crack towards the back of the freezer which I have since filled. Would that cause an issue with the Fridge? No pipes have been affected as far as I can see, just the insulation?
Thanks in advance.

Looks like thats a wet wall model, its likely its low on gas, i have seen the liner crack and it can be nothing, feel the wall at the back of the fridge, is it spongy anywhere ? if not its likely lost enough gas to cause a problem, you would need an engineer to perform a system repair, not something you can do sorry.

Thanks for that…
So is there gas behind the plastic shell then? I assumed the gas would have been restructed to the piping.
Not sure what ‘wet wall’ means but the freezer seems to be cooled by looped pipes that also act as the shelves if that makes sense??
Any idea what a repair would cost? Would I be better just buying a unit? (£299)
Thanks so much BTW, appreciated.

in the fridge behind the wall the pipework runs, if there is a leak in that section sometimes you can feel the back wall go spongy,
when i say wet wall under normal oporation the rear wall of the fridge will freeze over lightly then defrost and water runs down into the gutter below.

Hi, yes, its a wet wall model.
I turned it up to 5 overnight and the back wall got very cold and actually had ice particles on it. The front of the fridge however is around 12C and warm.
It was suggested that it may be an ice block restricting the air flow. Could that be the reason?
Thanks

That would not apply to your type, only a frost free model. its highly likely gas issue.
