get a part no for main stat as C00194621

is that the one you have

hotpoint site seems to list 2 different one depending on how you search. problem is they hide part number so make life difficult. one of them is as above. the other is decribed as ” thermostat oven and microswitch”

Hi , that’s the part number I have, the problem is if I order the ignition switch That’s listed for this thermostat, I can’t see what stops switch turning when you turn oven on, the old switch has a plastic holder that fits on stat.
the other thermostat listed is top oven/ grill thermostat, cheers

Well you say ignition sw wont fit shaft, does that mean shaft is a different size and if yes does the knob fit ?

have found service manual but it does not picture the stats

does give list of installation instuctions but i assume before stat changed

    H) Thermostat (Main Oven)
    See A) Lid & Spring Assemblies 1 – 2 and
See B) Access to Hob and Facia Components 1 – 9.
    1. Remove the lower rear panel by removing the black screws. The rear panel can now pivot on the
hinges on the rear left hand side allowing the rear panel to swing open, without having to disconnect
the wires from the mains terminal block.
    2. Remove the main oven rod shelves and meat tin from within the oven cavity.
    3. Unclip the thermostat phial from the 2 clips within the left hand side of the oven cavity and feed the
capillary tube through the oven rear.
    4. Whilst holding the tap firmly in one hand the Bundy tube can be disconnected from the thermostat
assembly by use of a 15 mm spanner.
    5. Slacken and remove the screw through the saddle brackets which secures the thermostat
    assembly to the gas rail.
    6. Remove the thermostat and microswitch assembly after feeding up the capillary tube from the rear
of the oven cavity to the top of the appliance.
    7. Unclip the cotter pin locating the microswitch assembly complete with wires from the thermostat
    spindle.
    8. Reassemble in reverse order making sure a new sealing washer is used.

Looking at the parts manual that I have stashed away on the PC it looks like the thermostat is serial number dependent:
    Upto 51009…. C00194621 (Thermostat Only)
From 51010… C00382637 (Thermostat and microswitch)

These parts also appear in the manual but with no mention if it matters which thermostat they are used on
    C00193862 (Ignition Switch)
    C00241089 (Switch Holder)
    C00196351 (Spacer Disc For Knob)

    Hope that helps

Hi, the switch fits the shaft ok, not sure if there should be some kind of bracket / holder that fits between switch and thermostat housing to stop it turning when control knob is turned

Got it sorted, c00382637 is the right stat , even tho serial number said it needed other stat, confusing, thanks again for your help
