ParticipantThis machine is only 4 months old and looks as if it has leaked from day one.
The leak appears from about an inch back of the fascia on the joint near the first clip, right hand side from front between the hopper and body.
The water pressure is not particularly high and the machine level but I have raised the front to see if it reduces the problem.
The leak appears during fill on rinse.
I have read in some old threads for other machines that there was a design fault with the hopper unit which was possibly modified. If it had been modified I would have thought it would have been rectified by now.
Another thread suggested changing the drawer inner but I can’t see why this would solve the problem and would like clarification if it does before ordering.
As there are several conflicted opinions I was hoping that someone could let me know if there is a design fault and how Hotpoint rectify it.
I have suggested the customer call Hotpoint under guarantee which she did but she said all they’re interested in doing is selling her an extended warranty in case it’s not covered under guarantee.

She must call Hotpoint, it’s their problem.

I agree but she called them and the person who took the call was rude and only interested in selling an extended warranty. Hotpoint will take over a week to attend the call so she would rather pay to have it repaired.
I have explained that this could be a design fault and if I change the dispenser body and hopper I can’t guarantee it will resolve the matter.
She still wants me to do the repair not Hotpoint.

Fair enough, sticking in a new dispenser unit should resolve the problem. I’m sure she is aware also that any intervention by a third party will void the guarantee for anything else that fails later.

I explained that to her from the outset but having said that if genuine parts are used and everything put back as it should be then Hotpoint are not going to know unless they can go back to her original phone call and question how it was repaired.
Is this is a known problem on new machines and has part has been modified?
