Hotpoint Iced Diamond fridge stat

Can I start by saying what a great site ! Came home from hols yesterday to find our Iced daimond fridge ( RL64P, serial 86105306) had stopped working (Not getting cold) and the compressor would not kick in. Bypassed the thermostat and the compressor runs fine so can only assume the stat is dead.It is a ranco K59P4967.The items listed on your parts shop page seem to be generic / universal types. would you mind telling me which is the correct one for the job please?

Genuine Hotpoint thermostat is p/no 261055. Dave_Conway will be able to advise price and availibility for you in the morning.

You can use the generic VT9 from the shop, the only difference being the capillary length:

Or the genuine Hotpoint one is £21.95 inc VAT and delivery, I can order one of these, an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk if required please.

Just ordered one of these from CPC for £9.41 incl VAT. Please note that the Ranco number has changed to K59-L4106. Also you need to order £35(I think) of stuff to qualify for free postage, otherwise it is quite excessive (but probably still much cheaper than buying elsewhere).

My Fridge has stoped working too, yet the light is still on so I know there is power, how do I check to see if it is this Thermostat or the compressor? How Do I bypass the thermostat????
