Hotpoint “Iced Diamond” RL88 – Not Cooling

I have a Hotpoint “Iced Diamond” RL88 which is currently not cold whatsoever.

The light is still on, so the plug fuse has not blown, but the familiar sound of the unit doing it’s job has gone and changing the temp using the selector wheel does not help.

This has been the case since the electric was cut to our house and then reactivated a week ago. Besides (seemingly) breaking the fridge, it also flooded our bathroom, as I left the shower switched on in my morning haze 😛

From reading some other posts here and elsewhere on the web, it seems to me that the culprit is probably the thermostat. We’ve got a guy coming to look at it tomorrow, but I am a proactive kinda guy and would like some advice from you gurus 😀

What is your prognosis? And which parts would I need to solve the problem?
