Hotpoint “Iced Diamond” RLA21

This fridge is about 18 months old and has been used VERY little (holiday home). It appears to “work” but is not keeping things cold enough (milk goes off quickly) even when fully turned up. Shop says it may need regassing or a new thermostat. Is there any SURE way to know whether a new thermostat is likely to solve the problem? Typically, we can’t find the receipt! Thanks.

If you listen to it over a period of time and note if it cuts out or not it well help 🙂

If it’s running continuously and not getting cold then it may well be the gas problem.

If it cuts out and stays off for prolonged periods it would point toward the thermostat.

Thanks for the tip. I fear it seems to be running all the time! I guess it’s time to get (yet) another new one, as doing the gas again would be pricey and there’d be no proof the leak would be fixed? 🙁
Is it possible to arrange to “lobby” Hotpoint and get them to “do the decent thing” here? (!)

It will have a 5 year parts warranty anyway, or should have.

If you get the serial number as well as the model and give them a call, they can tell when it was made by those details.
