ParticipantThe RF64P is a fridge/ freezer, 5 year old and both the door seals have split. I have made enquiries for replacement seals and have been told that Hotpoint don’t do them and that I have to replace both doors at a cost of around £160 😥
Does anyone know any different?

KeymasterThis is quite common these days to have what we call “foamed doors”, basically the seals are effectively glued into place sandwiched between the inner door and outer door panels making them difficult, if not impossible to replace.
It’s cheaper than using screws on the production line I’m told. 🙄

That’s what I was afraid of, looks like I’ll just have to buy a new fridge/ freezer…….. but not a Hotpoint!!!
Thank you for the reply.retired-one

KeymasterTo be honest an awful lot of manufacturers use this principal these days, LEC for example, the last time I checked would also only supply full doors and not seperate seals.

You are correct in as much as the doors are complete, but I don’t know where those prices came from. Hotpoint list price for the doors:
Fridge £53.15
Freezer £54.73Both inc VAT but not carriage, which given the size and weight shouldn’t be more than £20 for both if sent by parcel post.
So £130 would be the maximum the pair should cost you, unless the price you mention included fitting ?

Thanks for that Dave, do you have a link/ phone number please, the price I mentioned was a local company and I was going to do the fitting myself.
