Hotpoint felt there were insufficient out there to warrant a recall…….. Really?

Hotpoint would not offer comment as their solicitors were engaged in the matter. What a surprise !

We have all seen the previous threads and discussions but the estimated figure of appliances at risk was in the region of over 400’000 so the message is not getting through hence main media news coverage at prime time. As indies we need to be aware and responsible attending to any such appliances

It’s worth pointing out, Don, that the UKW news article (2nd of your links) relates to the FDW dishwasher recall covering the newer Indesit manufactured machines, not the earlier Bosch manufactured DWF machines being talked about in this thread.
Indesit seem again to have slipped this latest recall announcement out very quietly, apparently last November. I’m pretty sure this is the first mention of it on UKW.

I know the FDW one was highlighted.
Pretty sure the other one was as well at some stage.
But here’s a thought for you all as you’re all a bit techy. Look up the BSH and Indesit part numbers for the affected machines, cross reference them. Now look see how many models that the part that’s a problem fits. Look at the territories that they are sold in. Then look at what territories have had a problem.
I’ll save you some trouble there, the Hotpoint ones will probably be UK only. You’d sorta expect that to be the case given the politics of the time.
Then work out why and see if you can prove my theory wrong.
Have fun.

I fell at the first fence 🙁How can the PCB’s be “cross referenced” anyway?

Find out the models and brands that they are fitted to and what territories that they are sold in.
For BSH look for Constructa, Pitsos, Balay, Küppersbusch, Quelle and so on. Many will be regional which will give you the territories where these brands tend to be exclusive, as Hotpoint pretty much is UK wise until recently.

Sorry, Ken, what is the theory you are trying to put forward here?

The Bosch/Siemens dishwasher recall is worldwide. Virtually all countries in Europe have this recall in place. The affected control modules each fit dozens of model variants, each configured specific to that models features. The UK and several other countries from Slovakia to Sweden, Czech to Ireland are affected in the same way using the same module.
I don’t know for sure but suspect one manufacturer has supplied these modules to BSH and the replacements are from a different manufacturer, dunno, probably?
