ParticipantThis device fits onto the power modules of Indesit and Hotpoint washing machines to do a test wash, hopfully helping fault finding. The part number is 5600260 or C00095669, does anybody no how to get hold of one. Hotpoint don’t sell them to independants.
PS, Discovered a 0800 No. for Hotpoint, its 08007314958.

KeymasterWe had some a while back on a deal but I don’t think we can get them anymore. 😕
I can check if you like, but I wouldn’t hold out much hope.

John, give EMW a ring? They can explain more about the Hardware Key 😉

I dont know why you would want one I have found this and Washdoctor a waste of time.If you have anything down to earth at all then it will tell the bloody thing a different fault,ie fill valve faulty when its your wash heater down to earth.
I rely on knowledge and my megger.November 30, 2007 at 8:07 pm #235837iadom

Apart from being able to put the machines into test mode all it tells you without the Washdoctor/Emit gear is exactly the same as the flashing lights or LED display.

KeymasterPeople,
key opportunities are greater then that… depending on having soft for that or not… but this one is also only for electronics point of view… because you can do anything you want with machine:
– see wash statistic (how many errors occurs in machine live time/ working conditions( warnings about water supply, power, unbalancing per 100g, number of washes and which completed,,,)
– see pre-fault, actual error, last error
– testing user board
– check, read and write EEPROM
– read, write even (processor) RAM (but this option is for experienced programming engineer because you can damage working program)
– deal with every peripheral component apart (valve, motor, door lock, pump, and heater) which mean you can command them and see also electronic feedback which drive you exactly where the problem is…So key, cable and adapters can be very useful in much more manner like the impression is…
But also alone can be useful when you want to test (at client home) in few minutes that all are OK instead of entire wash program.December 2, 2007 at 8:52 am #235840admin
KeymasterRe: Hotpoint/Indesit Hardware Key.
For newer PCB’s they’ve made other devices:
– SmartCard Reader: new key which will write and check programms into EEPROM from one eraseble cip delivered like one “phone card” (spare part instead of memory device)…
– Other new key will be working via bluetooth with “SmartPhone” which has installed software and will be connected with Merloni DataBase (I don’t know yet his opportunities)…Baron 8)

This is getting scary this electronic programme control business, really scary??? 😕
The onset of tiny little module boards with microscopic double and triple layered surface components. Microprocessors, eeproms, thermionic thingamigigs all plugged in and interlinked with ribbon cables and thin bits of phone wire and jack plugs. 😯
All knocked up in some sweatshop in South Korea costing a few ‘Wons’ to produce. Passed on through several handling agents until the component price rises by 500{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} (or more?) by the time it is installed.
Then it’s tested by robots and shipped out into the field. When it goes wrong or throws a wobbly the ideal scenarios are out the window. By then we field service engineers are left scratching our heads trying to figure what’s gone wrong? 🙁
With a ‘Hardware Key’ in one hand and a a Torx screwdriver in the other we kneel down behind a Hotpoint or Indesit and pray…..
…….. “beam me up Scotty!!”

If anybody has a hardware key, then we are looking for a spare. Could give £40+vat as a credit on your account here at EMW. Tony 0115 9652118
