ParticipantHi Guys
Latest hotpoint indesit range of washing machine’s.
Fault no start all display seems normal except flashing door locked led .
Fault appears to be faulty solenoid type door lock or door not shut properly.
Actual course is the motor plug at the motor .
Remedy, remove plug tighten up pins in the plug by squeezing with your pliers.
If you find this does not work change the motor not the door lock which you might be thinking to be the cause .
Cheers
Colin

Or do what I do, cut the motor plug off and replace with any decent motor plug, I used a seven pin Pressac plug on one last week.
When I run out of old plugs I will then resort to putting amp tags on all six/seven wires taking care to insulate them.
There is no need to change the motor.
Squeezing the connections is a waste of time, they are totally useless, and will fail again in no time at all as I have found to my cost already. 😥

Hi
Thank you for your input i will bear this in mind for future .
I know the hotpoint lads do not do any of the above with the plug and they change the motor and machine does then work ok .
i wonder how that is ?
Perhaps the new motor has thicker terminals in the plug socket .
I have squeezed the connections and found it to be a sound repair .
But i will think about what you have said for next one.April 17, 2011 at 8:04 pm #349513iadom

I went to one of these a few weeks ago, all of the motor wires had been replaced by AMP tags. The customer said the only other person to touch the machine was a Hotpoint/Indesit engineer.
The motor tags are not the problem and have not been altered. Its the pathetic, tiny, thin motor plug terminals. The ones on my mobile phone charger are stronger. :rolls:
