ParticipantGetting a few call backs on these which scrape after fitting a complete Drum support kit.
Sometimes the drum will only scrape once machine is hot, which tells you how fine the tolerance is between drum and back panel.
Has any one devised a fool proof method for doing this job right, first time every time? (apart from selling new one)
I have tried variations on number of spacer washers fitted, and always ensure every screw on the machine is tight as the cabinets are so flimsy.
Any ideas or pointers to threads covering this topic much appreciated.

Hi Neil,
Try the search facility and put in the model numbers of the various t/dryers you have been repairing, you should find plenty info including drum mods and rear seal mods etc.

is there not a mod out for these that you fit an extra washer between the support and the backplate, which pushed the drum further from the back panel???
im sure in the v4 shaft kits a new washer is there and thats what its for.

The extra washers don’t cure a bad one, as helo says the modified drum with the rounded edge at the back is the only certain cure.

only guaranteed complete repair is new drum and new back panel with the tear drop style bearing
no more scraping noises after that 😀ofcourse after that mod you then get the drum falling off the front suppport because once the front is stripped down a few times it likes to bow outwards

Sadly the teardrop bearing wears away just as fast as the old square one. 😥

Participanterm, if your feeling, erm , a bit dodgy
look where its been scraping, and use the back seal out of the kit, and stick it to where its been catching
