ParticipantHi Guys, I’m new to the forum so hello.
I have a Hotpoint HIO 3T221. It’s started randomly switching itself on. If I turn it off at the mains and back on, it’s fine. It won’t switch on. As soon as I power it on, and turn it off, after exactly 1 minute and 32 seconds it just turns on again. Happens every time. It works fine. It cleans OK. But once the cycles finished
after the 1:32 it’ll start a cycle again. Any ideas?June 21, 2020 at 8:41 am #469872electrofix
Moderatorwell its either a problem with the on off switch or a board problem in my opinion

ParticipantI was thinking that. I stripped the front off it yesterday. There’s a circuit board for the switch panel but then the wires disappear inside the machine. Could the small circuit board for the swict panel be the control panel as well. I’ve tried to contact hotpoint for almost a week now and can’t actaully speak to anyone. And when I try my model on their website it doesn’t recognise the model so I cant see a parts lost for it.

ParticipantThe model number is HIO 3T221 WG C E GB
Below that it’s 61057110100
And 869991057110
I can’t find any details at all about the washer but searching on hotpoint website although i have found a sales manual for itJune 21, 2020 at 3:25 pm #469876electrofix
Moderatoryes its listed as
HIO3T239WGEUKwith that commercial; code
if i have found the correct interface and supposing the interface is the problem then the part is about £46
bit expensive to take a chance on

ParticipantThat’s great mate. Thanks for the help. Whe is it listed as a different model code than the one on the actual machine? And do you have a part number for the above part? Is that the control board?

Moderatoryou can see the listing i have. all the commercial codes are correct they are just using a different model
they can do this for various reasons. the two listed here one is for uk the other for the eu. They can also do models for various retailers so you cant price match

Moderatorthe problem with this you have to bear in mind is it is most likely either the interface or the control board. If its the control board then you can buy it but they come minus software. So to be able to use it you have to buy a programmer and the software as well
how long have you had this appliance ?

ParticipantThat’s a bit annoying. So if it’s the control board it’ll work out cheaper to have it repaired I suppose.
One thing my partner did notice yesterday that when she used program 6, the machine switched off as normal and didn’t come back on. I’ve asked her to try and use various program settings to get a pattern. I’ve only ever tried it on program 1 which we normally use all the time and that’s when the issue is present.I’ve only had it around 22 months which is annoying. It’s not like it’s an old machine. It’s been registered for the 10 years parts warranty so at least if I did have to get someone out I’m hoping Ill only need to pay labour.
I appreciate all your help mate.

Moderatoryou could look into the sale of goods act and approarch the retailer on the grounds the unit was not of merchantable quality and not fit for purpose because its only lasted 22 months
it is a long shot but i have known customers who have been successful. you approach the retailer as you have a contract with the retailer as money and goods changed hands
do some google research and see if this may be possible but if you cant lose anythingDave

ParticipantI never thought of that.
I didn’t actaully buy the dishwasher in person. I moved I to a new build that had all new hotpoint appliances. I do have a 2 year warranty with the house builder so I’ll approach them I think. Technically it was them that purchased it.Cheers for your help

ParticipantJust an update. Decided to bite the bullet an sjust order a interface. Bit of a gamble to be fair but I’d didnt pay off. Fitted it and its still the same. I’ll try the house builder and if that fails I’ll just get hotpoint it to it. Least I’ve a parts warranty on it
