Original fault was a broken door handle. Customer said it had been pulled many times until it broke. Door handle replaced and tested. Door will not unlock and the middle two lights start flashing (F6 interlock failure). Customer said that they had seen these lights but ‘had to get the washing out’ so pulled until it snapped – so I fitted a new interlock. Door still won’t release and machine still faults. Tested all components for earth leak; all OK (apart from motor at just under 1.5Mohm); wiring perfect and thermistors check out OK. Looked at all the tech I could find and PCB is next after interlock / wiring for F6.
Module ordered and fitted from EMW and still the same, although the machine doesn’t fault anymore. All components retested and refitted; connections cleaned and refitted; even mains suppressor swapped, still won’t unlock the door. All components unplugged, just the interlock and the control interface in circuit to the module and still won’t unlock. (machine doesn’t fault at all even with all its component parts unplugged!). Pressure switch checked for blockages and the default level reset done, still not unlocking. The machine is first plugged in then switched on at the oval power button – door locks – won’t unlock unless the mains plug is pulled: no time to set the program or even if the door is open the interlock clicks ‘shut’. Swapped the modules back and forth and no difference – door locks on power up, no fault code. The stupid thing is the machine will fill, empty, heat , spin and dry as normal – just the door won’t release!!!! :angry4:
This is doing my head in…….. I know these are dire machines but I am convinced I’m missing something. Two modules with the same fault? Unlikely but possible – that’s the best I’ve got ATM.
Anyone help with this? Anything you have would be appreciated.Cheers,
Steve.

Plugged on and off in all combinations – module, new motor, both thermistors, drier and water heaters, disconnected and reset the water level on the pressure switch; changed the door lock; wired out the suppressor, checked wall socket for problems (all OK)………
STILL LOCKS THE DOOR when the ‘On’ button is pressed; flashes F6 and won’t release the door until the plug is pulled. 😡 😡
Frankly had enough of this :poo: machine. Staring to think that maybe the paintwork maybe faulty as I’ve tried everything I can think of……WTF is causing this fault??
Any pointers?? Apart from an axe, skip, throwing off a cliff or :fire:HELP!!

Hi Wilf,
No burning at all and I replaced the lock and tightened the connections. Swapped the old and new interlocks back and forth – no difference. I can’t work out why the machine will do a cycle perfectly but just won’t release the door after the cycle has finished unless the plug is pulled. Thanks again,
Steve.

Ive just done one with simple broken door handle. Fitted new gen handle kit and interlock. It wont lock until you press start a slight click is heard but then open door and slam it then cycle begins. 1 1/2 hours on it with every combination of new old latch spring etc. It improves if you loosen door hinge screws and pull door towards the lock and retighten but still not perfect . Maybe hinges or bent cabinet?

I would look at changing the motor as you know if there are worn brushes the interlock will give problems and the fact it is 1.5mohms is below hotpoints min of 3 mohms

Nothing wrong with motor at 225 mohms on this one

On the 1st post he says he said he meggared for earth leakage and the motor was down to 1.5 Mohms so it is worth checking/ changing the motor

had the same problem a little while ago and it drove me up the wall too.
machine would run perfectly through the cycle and then the door would not release.
found that as the machine reached top speed 1400 the door lock would click and cause the problem, run the machine at 1200 and no problem at all.
brushes were fine and its still working ok but with a lower spin speed. -
