hotpoint leaking

hi guys went to repair hotpoint aquries model wm 62 leaking checked hoses pump door seal ect. it would leak after empying out when it would be spinning. disconnected checked underneath their was damp on the block at the front. striped out the front checked heater seemed ok there was a slite dampness at the bottom where the front clips on are the front seal a problum on this machine thanks fase tester.

Seal can leak, usually when drum front has been removed and refitted without replacing with a new seal, something I do every time I have the drum front off.

On later models two extra clips were added at about five to and five past the hour to prevent leaks from this area.

On more than one occasion I have had leaks from this seal caused by solid objects getting into the drum. Also the drum front can crack where the heater slots into the drum front.

Hi fasetester,

further to what Jim said, sometimes if a coin or something has been rattling round the drum it bursts a hole in the frontplate where the fixing clips attach.

thanks jim and alan did not take the front out of the tub. can you tell if the seal is faulty. where would the 2 extra clip go does their not need to be a ridge for the clips to clip over. if the tub had a hole in the lip is their any thing which would seal it thanks fasetester.

Fasetester, pop front off machine & take drum front plate off, takes no time.As Alan says, coin damage on raised inner parts of plate is soo common on these. Renew drum seal & have a good look round door seal. I use a 2 part repair putty to fix the drum plastic with no probs.
