Hotpoint LTB4M166 intermittently won’t finish cycle

Our Hotpoint LTB4M166 integrated dishwasher has started to play up.

Sometimes at the end of the dishwasher cycle it doesn’t seem to finish properly. The drain pump will run for about 20/30 seconds every few minutes. When this happens the power light is flashing on/off very quickly but in no pattern. I initially thought this might be a fault code. The programme light stays on just like normal and that moves to whatever programme you put it on. So the only thing different to normal is the power light flashing quickly rather than slowly.

Now the dishwasher does actually go through the cycle OK, in that it washes, rinses and dries fine. We get steam and it drains OK as there is no water left in the bottom. We have tried putting it on different wash programmes but still get the same. I’m not sure if it is coincidence but if you open to the door to let some steam out during the drying phase then it seems to have a better hit rate of finishing properly but not always.

I have checked nothing is blocking holes in the bottom and it’s clear. I’ve checked the waste water pipe and it’s clear. The drain pump seems to be working fine as when I tip some water into the bottom when the pump is running it is pumped away fine and out of the waste water pipe.

My next step is to actually take the dishwasher out of the unit but can anyone help or give pointers what I should be checking? I was going to check pumps and pipes and make sure nothing is blocked etc but not really sure what could be causing the fault, especially as it is intermittent.
