Hotpoint Minstral Plus 8596P E8 Error

Good morning,

Could anyone point me in the right direction as to what is causing an E8 error to be shown on our 7 year old Hotpoint frost free fridge freezer.

We have had a problem with the fridge not cooling then after being switched of for 2 weeks it worked faultlessly for a month and now we have got the E8 error and the fridfe is again not cooling.

I’ve read on another post that it is the Evaporator Thermistor but could someone confirm this for me.

I don’t want to call Hotpoint out if it’s only a £13 part. as they charge £40 call + £80 fitting charge + parts. (bit steep in my books)

Any help will be gratefully recieved.

E8 is the evaporator thermistor short circuited.

I have the same E8 fault code and have ordered the required part 2601683. Could anyone please advise on how I fit this part or should I use a refrigeration engineer?
